Moreover destinations of URLs and their rate of change are periodically monitored and checked by JotUrl’s security system: again, this helps to prevent and identify abuse. By signing up users accept that all accesses, including the attempts of unauthorized access are monitored. By logging in users will implicitly accept that the parameters associated with the connected computer (IP address, the type and version of the browser, etc…) are logged for security reasons. In no case, except those expressly provided by law, these data will be transmitted to third parties. You agree that JotUrl may refuse your registration or terminate your access and account for violating these Terms of Use, for any behavior that is inconsistent with JotUrl’s image or values, or for any other reason, entirely in its discretion. Any unauthorized use (i.e. any use that violates these Terms of Use), will result in your account being disabled and moreover you may be reported to the proper governmental and police agencies (and in that case no refund of the annual fee for the service provided by JotUrl, eventually paid by the user, will be paid back by JotUrl to the latter).

Free memberships, as reported on the pricing page at Pricing, are allowed both for personal and commercial purposes. Each company or individual is allowed to own one (1) free membership.
We trust our users and we’re constantly committed to improve relations with them. For this reason, in case of a commercial improper use of a contract, JotUrl will send at least two emails (at least 15 days of each other) to the owner (user) of the contract, while providing the opportunity to regularize their bargaining position, in accordance with these Terms of service, at no additional cost to the user. Should this not occur, JotUrl reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend the corresponding user account and, in case of further protracted and persistent irregular position of the user, to cancel
the account of the user, without any liability resulting from the act in relation to the user, which will lose all related rights.

You may not republish Site Content on any other website or business network or incorporate the information into any database or compilation. Any use of the Content not authorized by JotUrl is prohibited.
All trademarks, logos, trade dress and service marks on Site are trademarks of JotUrl or its licensors and may not be copied, imitated, or used, in whole or in part, without written permission.
User Content
Certain features of JotUrl (e.g. CTAs / Call-To-Actions, JotBio / JotPages, QR codes, Link preview) may permit users to upload content to the JotUrl Service, including images, text, graphics, and other types of content (User content) and to publish User Content on the Service. You retain any copyright and other proprietary rights that you may hold in the User Content that you post to the Service. Nevertheless, we need certain permission from you in order to provide the Service.
Limited License Grant to JotUrl
By providing User Content to or via JotUrl, you grant JotUrl a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid right and license (including the right to sublicense) to host, store, transfer, execute,, display, reproduce, modify, adapt, create derivative works of, reformat, translate, extract (in whole or in part), publish and distribute your User Content, in whole or in part, in any media formats and through any media channels now known or hereafter developed.
Limited License Grant to Other Users
By providing User Content to or via the Service to other users of the Service, you grant those users a non-exclusive license to access and use that User Content as permitted by these Terms and the functionality of the Service.
User Content Representations and Warranties
JotUrl disclaims any and all liability in connection with User Content. You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of providing User Content via the Service. By providing User Content via the Service, you affirm, represent, and warrant that:
- you are the creator and owner of the User Content, or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to authorize JotUrl and users of the Service to use and distribute your User Content as necessary to exercise the licenses granted by you in this Section, in the manner contemplated by JotUrl, the Service, and these Terms;
- your User Content, and the use of your User Content as contemplated by these Terms, does not and will not:
- infringe, violate, or misappropriate any third party right, including any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, moral right, privacy right, right of publicity, or any other intellectual property (IP) or proprietary right;
- slander, defame, libel, or violate the right of privacy, publicity or other property rights of any other person; or

- your User Content cannot be deemed to be objectionable, profane, indecent, pornographic, harassing, threatening, embarrassing, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, we reserve the right to monitor, remove, edit, or block any User Content we find in violation of the Terms or that we find, in our sole discretion to be otherwise objectionable, at our sole discretion.
Third Party Content, CTAs and Previews
In case of use of the Call-To-Actions (CTAs) feature, available within JotUrl, which is leveraged by users for improving Content Curation, conversion rates and lead generation activities by adding CTAs to their tracking links, JotUrl always checks and automatically asks for permission (directly to the remote server hosting the website) to embed the destination pages of third-party sites within the CTA itself. If it does not automatically receive such permission, JotUrl still allows the user to generate, for the CTA, an intermediate page (preview page) containing a preview or a summary of the content of the destination page. It should be remembered that destination pages are not owned by JotUrl nor are under the control of JotUrl. It is also important to take note that in such cases JotUrl performs only a preview or a summary of the content of the destination page indicated by the user, through the use of an automatic extractor (which may, depending on the case, also make use of Artificial Intelligence to generate the summary), which consistently extracts limited portions of the text contained in the destination page, in order to generate the corresponding preview (or the summary). The intermediate preview page contains:
- such text,
- a title,
- an image,
- and always, in each case, also a disclaimer and a clickable button to explicitly attribute ownership of the content to its respective owner, as well as to allow any end visitor to reach and view the content of the destination page itself.
JotUrl repurposes only an excerpt or a limited summary of the destination page, never altering the content and concepts expressed in the content itself and, in any case, always respecting the intellectual property (IP) of the content of the destination page, always attributing ownership of the content to the respective source and always allowing everyone to reach the source page of the content itself.
User Content Disclaimer
We are under no obligation to edit or control User Content that you or other users upload or publish, and will not be in any way responsible or liable for User Content. JotUrl may, however, at any time and without prior notice, monitor, remove, edit, or block any User Content that in our sole judgment violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable. You agree to waive, and do waive, any legal or equitable right or remedy you have or may have against JotUrl with respect to User Content. If notified by a user or content owner that User Content allegedly does not conform to these Terms, we may investigate the allegation and determine in our sole discretion whether to remove the User Content, which we reserve the right to do at any time and without notice. For clarity, JotUrl does not permit copyright-infringing activities nor IP-infringing activities on the Service.
Monitoring Content
JotUrl does not have any obligation to monitor: (a) User Content; (ii) any content made available by third parties; or (iii) the use of the Service by its users. You acknowledge and agree that JotUrl reserves the right to, and may from time to time, monitor any and all information transmitted or received through the Service for security, operational and other purposes. If at any time JotUrl chooses to monitor the content, JotUrl still assumes no responsibility or liability for content or any loss or damage incurred as a result of the use of content. During monitoring, information may be examined, recorded, copied, and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Copyright Policy
JotUrl is a professional link manager that enables you to publish Internet addresses (deep links, short URLs, QR codes, etc.) and to keep them updated, on multiple channels (social media, websites, blogs, newsletters, SMS campaigns, mobile apps, landing pages, press releases, product packaging, user guides, printed marketing materials, billboards, shop windows, books, magazines, eBooks etc.). JotUrl does NOT modify, copy or re-propose contents: all web pages are displayed online, and therefore shown in their original form. The content of the displayed pages is protected by copyright and the property of the latter belongs to their respective owners. JotUrl provides a preview service for each destination URL. You get a preview just by typing a plus (+) at the end of each URL you want to visit. For example, to get a preview of https://jo.my/cta-example, simply type “https://jo.my/cta-example+”.
JotUrl respects the intellectual property of others. It is JotUrl’s policy to respond expeditiously to legitimate claims of copyright and other intellectual property infringement. JotUrl will promptly process and investigate notices of alleged infringement and will take appropriate actions under the Italian and European law regarding copyright protection and other applicable intellectual property laws. Upon receipt of notices, JotUrl may act expeditiously to remove or disable access to any material claimed to be infringing or claimed to be the subject of infringing activity and may act expeditiously to remove or disable access to any reference or link to material or activity that is claimed to be infringing. JotUrl will terminate access for subscribers and account holders who are repeat infringers.
Notifying JotUrl of Copyright Infringement: to provide JotUrl notice of an infringement, you must provide a written communication to the attention of “Copyright Notification Dept.” at copyright@joturl.com. Please refer to the previous section – “Digital Millennium Copyright Act and Berne Convention”, for details on how to send us a written communication and about the required documentation.
Providing JotUrl with Counter-Notification: if we remove or disable access to content in response to an infringement notice, we will make reasonable attempts to contact the owner or administrator of the affected content. If your material has been removed and you feel that your material does not constitute infringement, you may provide JotUrl with a counter notification by written communication to the attention of “Copyright Notification Dept.” at copyright@joturl.com that sets forth all of the necessary information required. If you are uncertain whether an activity constitutes infringement or not, we recommend seeking advice from an attorney.

Privacy Policy – Non-Personally-Identifiable Information
Being GDPR and CCPA compliant, JotUrl takes the private nature of your personal information very seriously. This and the following paragraphs about our Privacy Policy describe how we treat the information we collect when you visit and use any website available from JotUrl. Please read this notice very carefully. It is JotUrl’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites. Like most website operators, JotUrl collects Non-Personally-Identifiable Information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. JotUrl’s purpose in collecting Non-Personally Identifiable Information is to better understand how JotUrl visitors use its website. From time to time, JotUrl may release Non-Personally-Identifiable Information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
Privacy Policy – Personally-Identifiable Information
JotUrl does not collect potentially Personally-Identifiable Information, except in only three cases:
- data for users login / signup purposes (e.g. access credentials), which are mandatory to use the service – all data is encrypted
- data for billing / administrative purposes (e.g. company name, tax ID, billing address, email for invoicing, excluding credit cards or any other information related to payment methods), which are mandatory to use the service – all data is encrypted
- data related to IP geolocation – please read below how we collect and manage that kind of data JotUrl does not use such information to identify its visitors and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifiable information, as described below.
Regarding the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, we collect them only for security and statistical reasons. In fact JotUrl does not use such information to identify its visitors and does not disclose such information.
All IP addresses (collected only for security and statistical purposes) are always permanently anonymized (we apply a 24 bit submask to the IP addresses) and then stored in our databases, thus making it impossible to identify a specific user in any way. The full IP address is never disclosed for analytics purposes, guaranteeing the user’s anonymity as requested by the most recent privacy protection laws (e.g. GDPR and CCPA).
Please note that from a technical point of view, the behavior of the Internet obliges the client to always communicate the IP address to the server (otherwise the whole Internet would not be able to work).
Consequently, JotURL’s servers obviously know the client’s IP at each request, but JotURL does not save and does not use this IP in any way.
In short, the flow is as follows:
The user clicks on the link → the user’s client tells JotURL its IP (because of the technology on which the Internet is based, regardless of JotURL) → JotURL does not save the IP but first anonymizes it immediately and only thereafter saves the anonymized IP. After that JotURL makes no use of that IP.
The restrictive European law (and any other international law that regulates users’ privacy and related data management) does not in fact question the server’s knowledge of the client’s IP (otherwise an essential technical condition for the functioning of the Internet would be lost), but rather the way in which this knowledge is managed and used. Regarding the management of the IP JotURL anonymizes this information and only then saves it (for security purposes) thereafter.
Briefly, IPs are anonymized and thereafter saved only for security reasons and are not disclosed unless it is required by the police or by government legal authorities. It should be noted indeed that, as far as security is concerned, saving anonymised IPs is an action to which we are obliged by law. In fact, for security reasons, if the police and/or legal authorities request such IPs from us, we would be required by law to deliver the list of IPs to them.
Protection of Personally-Identifiable Information
Referring to the previous paragraph / section, Personally-Identifiable Information belonging to the first case (namely users login data) and / or to the third case, (namely IP addresses), are disclosed by JotUrl only if requested by the police or by government judicial authorities, under the mandate of a judge. Potentially Personally-Identifiable and Personally-Identifiable Information belonging to the first case (namely users login data, but limited only to the email) and to the second case (namely billing / administrative data) are disclosed by JotUrl only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that
- need to know that information in order to process it on JotUrl’s behalf or to provide services available at JotUrl websites (for instance a Payment Gateway, that provides payment-processing services, or an ERP / CRM, that provides business management services, or a Marketing platform, which provides email marketing and newsletter campaigns), and
- that have agreed to respect the Privacy Policy in effect with respect to this personal data, and have also agreed to not to disclose that information to others.
Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using JotUrl websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. JotUrl will never rent or sell potentially Personally-Identifiable and Personally-Identifiable Information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, JotUrl discloses potentially Personally-Identifiable and Personally-Identifiable information only when required to do so by law.
The security of your personal information is very important to us. When you enter sensitive information on our forms, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL) on Https.
We follow generally accepted top industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. Furthermore, digital certificates we hold and use to encrypt information include an Identity Assurance up to $ 250.000.

Cookies
JotUrl makes use of cookies. A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. The use of cookies helps JotUrl to identify and track the usage that visitors make of the services provided by JotUrl’s website, and their website access preferences.
JotUrl uses both session cookies and persistent cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your hard drive after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the site. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser’s directions.
JotUrl visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using JotUrl’s websites, with the drawback that certain features of JotUrl’s websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
When users click on short links, JotURL does not use tracking cookies other than technical cookies, with the exception of the following case: when the owner of the link activates the retargeting function (retargeting pixel) on the link.
In this case, however, not only does the consent show up, but the owner of the link can even customize this consent to align it with that of his own site.
In fact, being a GDPR and CCPA compliant SaaS, JotUrl provides its Customers with the ability to create their own GDPR consent template(s) and to show visitors a GDPR/CCPA compliant consent pop-up, which includes individual opt-out check boxes and the links to the privacy and cookie policy, to the terms of service and to the website of the Customer.
As an example, please visit the following link: https://jo.my/help-center-gdpr which includes one pixel, namely the Facebook retargeting pixel, the opt-out options and the link to JotUrl’s privacy and cookie policy (https://jo.my/privacy-cookie-policy).
The latter is just an example, since any GDPR template can be fully branded and customized by the Customer, based on the Customer’s information itself.
To configure your own GDPR template, please visit https://joturl.com/reserved/settings.html#tools-gdpr, then click on the “Add GDPR template” button in the top right corner of the dashboard and fill in the required information to customize and create your own GDPR template.
In all other cases, JotURL only uses technical cookies, without ever tracking the user’s behavior or the user himself/herself/themselves.
In fact, there is no way for JotURL to identify a user when he/she / they click on the link (nor do we need to).

Security and Spam Policy
JotUrl shortened links (like every shortened URL) could be used in spam or to point to malicious content. We take potentially abuse of our service very seriously and do everything we can to prevent it. Here are some of the ways we help to keep our users safe:
- JotUrl is NOT a standard URL shortening service, it is a professional link manager. JotUrl was in fact designed from day one for business, with the security, the tools and integration that Enterprise businesses need. Moreover JotUrl is a cloud based service, powered by Microsoft Windows Azure Cloud (one among the world’s largest cloud providers). JotUrl’s architecture and platform are definitely Enterprise oriented. Finally, JotUrl is an ISO 27001 and CSA certified company and Cloud Service.
- Registration is mandatory for ALL users: this helps to prevent abuse. By signing up users accept that all accesses, including the attempts of unauthorized access, are monitored by JotUrl for security reasons. And by logging in users will implicitly accept that the parameters associated with the connected computer (IP address, the type and version of the browser, etc…) are logged (and always encrypted) for security reasons.
- Link previews are on by default – whenever somebody visits a JotUrl shortened URL they can always get a preview page so they can check the destination URL before they visit it. This makes JotUrl much less appealing to spammers than most other standard URL shortening services which always send visitors straight to their site in any case.
- JotUrl has a powerful engine that continuously scans all shortened URLs (and their destinations) and filters them using 11 different cutting edge technologies, in addition to an internal neural network, in order to identify dangerous URLs. This helps to prevent and identify abuse.
- Rates of change for destination URLs are periodically checked by JotUrl’s security system: again this helps to prevent and identify abuse.
- We periodically check all our links against various main blacklists. We update these lists regularly and our technology applies these updates across our entire database of links immediately.
- When we flag a link as spam, we add a very prominent warning page so that visitors know it is likely to be malicious. To help those fighting spam we still show the original destination, but users can no longer visit it without manually copying/pasting the full link into their browser.
- We thoroughly investigate any complaints of abuse we receive and have a dedicated contact email address for these. We aim to act on all abuse complaints within 24 hours (but typically manage far better than this).
- We don’t just disable individual URLs in response to complaints like some similar services. Since a spammer could create many similar links this would obviously be useless. We blacklist by domain or track down links based on the creator’s IP instead whenever possible.
- Our terms are very clear on what usage isn’t allowed.
- We blacklist other URL shortening/redirection services we know about. This stops spammers creating “chains” of redirects to help them circumvent our protections.
- We hate spam usage of our service and JotUrl has no relationship with spammers. We never send any spam email and only ever email people who have emailed us first (e.g., to respond to questions we get about the site, or if they agreed/signed up to our newsletter).
- Finally, we immediately report any unauthorized use and abuse to the proper governmental and police agencies.

SLA and Customer support
The Service Level Agreement (SLA) and the Customer level support provided for each different plan, is reported within the plans page at https://www.joturl.com/pricing.
Enterprise / Corporate customers are provided with a dedicated Service Level Agreement (SLA) and a higher level phone customer support service in addition to chat and email support. Customer Support references (phone, email, etc.) are reported at the end of the contract dedicated to Enterprise / Corporate customers.
JotUrl’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) technically guarantees the following:
- regarding cloud services: we guarantee that during deployment of two or more role instances in different fault and upgrade of domains the Internet facing roles will have external connectivity at least 99.95% of the time. Additionally, we will monitor all of the existing individual role instances and guarantee that 99.9% of the time we will detect when a role instance’s process is not running and initiate corrective action within five minutes.
- regarding storage services: we guarantee that at least 99.9% of the time we will successfully process correctly formatted requests that we receive to add, update, read and delete data.
- regarding SQL database services: SQL Database will maintain a Monthly Availability of 99.9% during a billing month. Monthly Availability Percentage for a specific customer database is the ratio of the time the database was available to customer to the total time in the billing month. Time is measured in 5-minute intervals in a 30-day monthly cycle. Availability is always calculated for a full billing month. An interval is marked as unavailable if the customer’s attempts to connect to a database are rejected by the SQL Database gateway.
JotUrl is a cloud service, based on the infrastructure of Microsoft Windows Azure (a top level cloud provider). This ensures that our customers will have connectivity to the Internet gateway of Microsoft. In addition, JotUrl has been validated by Microsoft Corp. to operate on the Azure Cloud platform. These features give us the opportunity to provide our Enterprise Customers one among the highest available SLA.
